ASHRAYA-The Shelter, located in the CDA area of the Silver city Cuttack, has received appreciation from several quarters for its Unconditional care for Persons with Disabilities and Multiple Disabilities. School was established in 2005. The school is affiliated to Social Security Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government. of Odisha. School adopts all the rules and regulations of SSEPD. The Day care-Cum Residential institution has become the care and training giver of altogether 238 differently abled children. Besides, the ASHRAYA-Child Care Institution accommodates orphans and abandoned afflicted with Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and AUTISM who are brought in by the Child Welfare Committee. Total 50 orphan and abandoned Children found HOME in ASHRAYA-The Shelter till date. From them several children are immobile, nonverbal, or both

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
ASHRAYA-The Shelter Special School aims to provide a range of services to all children and adults with intellectual disability to:
· Ensure all round development of children and youth through appropriate programs suited to each person’s needs and abilities.
· Impart vocational training for future employment/sustenance.
· Help parents through counselling and training to foster mutual support.
· Undertake and encourage research training and information dissemination that will sensitize both families of persons with disability and the general community.
· Create public awareness about intellectual disability.
· Rehabilitate and eventually integrate the students as far as possible in the mainstream of society.

ASHRAYA-The Shelter is an institution working for the differently able specialized as follows: • Only one Organization under which three school namely School for Mental Retardation, School for Cerebral Palsy, School for AUTISM, Early Intervention Centre, and Vocational Units are functional. • Only AUTISM School in entire Odisha under SSEPD Department. Govt. of Odisha. • Only Residential Cerebral Palsy School • Only Disabled Child Care Institution in Cuttack City • Facilities of Outdoor Sensory Park and Aqua Therapy are well maintained and functional for the all-round development of children .
